Lake Woodruff NWR is located in north central Florida, twenty-five miles west of Daytona Beach, off U.S. Highway 17 in DeLeon Springs. The refuge was opened in 1964 in order for both migrating and wintering birds to have habitats. The refuge contains myriad habitats: among them are marshes, swamps, creeks, hammocks and uplands. Approximately 215 species of birds, including species that are threatened or endangered, can be found in the refuge.
Bring binoculars, drinks, snacks, sunscreen, bug spray, sturdy walking shoes, and a hat if desired.
