Field Trip: Taye Brown Regional Park
Saturday, December 14, 2019, 08:00am - 11:00am
Contact - Carol Bailey-White (904-707-1881)

This area is part of the Cecil Recreation Trail and was once the NAS Cecil Field aircraft armament storage site, known as Yellow Water. The area includes a network of old asphalt and gravel and/or dirt fire roads.

We’ll check out the pond first for Pied-billed Grebe, American Coot, Common Gallinule, and any winter ducks. Then we'll walk some of the paved trails looking for woodland species. We'll also check the fields by the parking lot where American Kestrel, Eastern Meadowlark, and Red-headed Woodpecker are sometimes seen. This park is usually good for Loggerhead Shrike, Brown-headed Nuthatch and Eastern Towhee.

Bring binoculars, drinks, snacks, sunscreen, bug spray, sturdy walking shoes, and a hat if desired.

Location - 13951 Normandy Boulevard, Jacksonville, FL 32221
Directions: Turn off Normandy into the Jacksonville Equestrian Center, then continue driving straight ahead. You'll see signs that say, "Recreation Trail Temporary Parking." Follow the signs and park in the area closest to the kiosk at the beginning of the trail.
