Join us for an opportunity to “bird” off some of that Tom-turkey from Thanksgiving. We’ll meet at the far south parking area to look for shorebirds in the dunes as the tide comes in. We can expect to see and study the “peeps”; plovers, sandpipers, turnstones, sanderlings and who knows what else! There may be some Red Knots or Piping Plovers with bands on their legs.

We’ll then move to the north beach, the first parking area we passed after the gate area.
If the new boardwalk is open we will set the scopes up for a “sea watch” and look for mergansers, gannets, terns, gulls, and maybe jaegers. See you then!

Meet at place time and directions: 8:00 am, South beach, last parking lot past the entrance gate. Heckscher Drive (SR105) east/north from either I-95 or 295 to the park entrance on the east side of the road. The park entrance is 13.5 miles from the Dames Point Bridge. If coming from Fernandina drive south on A1A, Little Talbot Island State Park entrance will be on your left.
